+ More

DJ TRS has been in the game of Hip Hop since 1985. Self-taught, at the age of 14 he saved his allowance to buy his first set of 1200 turntables (with the help of his father). His debut in the dj game began when he was asked to help dj a community center in Syracuse, NY’s notorious Brick City. After a kid pulled out a gun and waved it in the air, the party resumed full speed ahead. When TRS’ hand started ripping up two copies of “Good Times” by Chic, the packed room was amazed!

His many days of digging at Vinylmania in NYC in the 80s led him to revisit the classic Hip Hop breaks and early Hip Hop records. In the 2000s he began performing at Ted Smooth's Old School Jam in East Harlem. He has played with some Hip Hop legends including Rockin' Rob, Chuck City and Dan the Beatmann. He has performed at venues as diverse as Best Buy in NYC to Salvalas in Brooklyn, home of the legendary Lost & Found weekly vinyl night (RIP). He spins both digital and vinyl including doubles of funky 45s! TRS believes in the power of Hip Hop to create positive change in the world.
