Join us on the ferry in the Seattle bay, come with us to sunrise and sunset at the magic golden gate bridge. Visit Los Angeles, Vancouver, St. Louis, San Francisco and Las Vegas at night. Did we mention Mount Rushmore NM? New Orleans? Especially the sunset at Toronto from top of the CN Tower? „Smaller“ spots like Boston, Calgary, Springdale, Three Rivers, Pagosa Springs, Swift Current?

You travel to the Griffith Observatory, the Empire State Building, the One World Trade Center during construction, Manhattan, Tongue Point … and so many more.

Not enough? What about Niagara Falls, Lake Palourde, Keene Lake, Horseshoe Bend, White Mountains, Hobson CP and the Mississippi River?

Visit Alberta, Arizona, Arkansas, British Columbia, California and Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New York, Nevada, Massachusetts and Maine, Missouri, Ontario, Oregon, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Three years - three months - three trips - now we show the best. One of the longest timelapses perhaps - we call it the EPIC :) And that was the trip. More than 10.000 km each year - a great mix of landscapes and cityscapes - absolutely amazing!

Thanks for the fantastic soundtrack and mix to Kriz Mental homecookin.de and his drummer Lu Kleff.
Thanks to Alex for the title design and for polishing the graphics. Thanks to Stef for her support - she is the best camera assistant with a lot of patience for this time consuming job - love you!

The next journey will start soon … and it will be 8K!

Many thanks to all of you for supporting this project - not with money - but for building such great hard- and software! Thanks to @emotimo and @dynamicperception for your great tools. Thank you to Canon - your 5D MK II and 5D MK III have done more than 100.000 pictures for that journey through North America. Lenses used are the Canon EOS 24-70mm 2.8 and 24-70 2.8 II, 100mm 2.8 macro and 70-200mm 2.8 II and the Samyang 14mm 2.8. We used Lightroom and especially LR Timelapse for postproduction (V4 rescued the opening sequence!). Final editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. Title design with Adobe After Effects.

    --------------------------------

Und New Orleans?

  3. The first video of my Dolomites timelapse series featuring the beautiful mountains of northern Italy changing over the seasons. Winter is a tough time for shooting in high alpine environments over longer periods. Both for equipment and people. Though it provides a wonderful quiet when all the people return to the valleys for the night and you are the only one left on the mountain.

  4. My safari guides thought I was nuts taking thousands of photos each day so hopefully now they will understand...
This was my first trip to anywhere in the continent and it was eye opening. There are few things more thrilling than being woken up at 5:30am to the sounds of lions outside your tent.
This video was shot and edited by Tyler Fairbank.

We spent time in Marakele, Madikwe, and Sabi Sands trying to find the big 5: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, rhino. As you can see we found them all thanks to our safari guides. We had a little bit of luck on our side as well. Also, big thanks to Hein Myers for taking us out to get some astro time-lapses after hours.

I will be releasing many videos in the next few months so make sure to follow me.

Time and Hyper-lapses were all shot on the Canon 5D and Sony A7s in raw, graded in Lightroom with LightroomTL, and further stabilized, motion tracked, and whatever else was needed in After Effects CC. Final edit was cut in Premiere Pro.

Any other questions feel free to ask. Please Enjoy!

  5. 2K version displayed on Vimeo as 1080p here: vimeo.com/59804735

This is the 4K version uploaded to Vimeo....does it look the same on here as the 2K version here? You tell me! vimeo.com/59804735

As a plus or pro member you can download both the 2K version there or the 4K version here. Both are of course heavily compressed from the originals so PLEASE bear that in mind when pixel peeping! ;)

The 2K version is around 28Mb/s and the 4K version is around 70Mb/s. The original is around 400mb/s. Vimeo compresses to around 5mb/s for streaming.

The human eye...better than any camera out there except in one key "feature", modern cameras are more sensitive than our own eyesight!

The equivalent megapixels of our eye when you calculate what it can see in it's peripheral vision is around 576 megapixels depending on the person...my megapixels are reducing by the day...and taking into the adjustments our eye makes with it's iris we can see the equivalent of 20 stop of dynamic range. Better than an Alexa? Not that much better than Red HDRx! For now the eye still wins in all but low light sensitivity where the average equivalent "ISO rating" for our eyes are around 800 ISO (again depending on the person) The native sensitive of my F3 with S-Log is one stop faster at 1600 ISO!

One day cameras will better our eyesight in every way, although we won't actually be able to see it ;)

For more about the human eye check out articles like this one here and many others, fascinating stuff: clarkvision.com/imagedetail/eye-resolution.html

Shot on the Canon 1DC in 4k at 24P. Lit with one Litepanel 1x1. Starring the 25 attendees of the 2013 Brussels Workshop, the organiser Haroun Souirji, the whacking king James Miller and myself. Can you spot the shots of me? I actually have a second edit which I am decided whether to put it up or not. It's pretty gross!

One lens used. The Canon 100mm Macro F2.8 L series with IS

Graded in Premiere with Colorista II. Edited native in 4K in MJPEG. I cannot tell you how for now ;) I will do an upload of the 4K version here if I can get it at a reasonable size, although it's a bit pointless as most of you won't be able to see it in 4k...I can't !

I used warp stabilise on some of the shots for a slightly unnatural feel...

For my review of the Canon 1DC go to gopb.co/1DC

To see this projected at 4k come see me talk about the pro and cons of the camera and why I seem to be shooting just about everything I can with it at BVE 26, 27,28th of February. Free registration although my 3 talks are first come, first served, so get there early!

HUGE thanks to everyone who is in this video...Canada next in March...what should I do with them? gopb.co/canadaworkshops
