Friends of Flora is a community conservation initiative setup to restore a healthy ecosystem to the Flora river catchment of Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand.
Fourteen years after the group was established they have successfully reintroduced two of New Zealand’s most endangered bird species into the area and succeeded in controlling predators to an extent that enables the native biota to breed in relative safety.
The film seeks to build support for the work of Friends of Flora and also to illustrate the critical role that individuals and communities must play in conservation.
