"The eye of the sky” is a collective project of videographic creation. Five European associations focused on cinematographic production and distribution are involved: Franti from Italy, Nisi Masa France from France, Ms Baltazars Lab from Austria, Euphoria Borealis from Finland and Cinestesias from Spain.
The key topic of this proyect is the Sky. This is a topic broad enough that allows all kind of cinematographic/audiovisual expressions, from documentary to video-art.
Each association made a 2-minute video. The production is structured as an exquisite corpse: the end of one is the start of the next and so on. During the pre-production stage, a traveling box whose contents is enough to make a high quality video (a reflex camera with HD video recording, a 4-channel audio recorder, a little tripod and a clapperboard) was sent to the cities where the involved associations are from.
The global result was edited with a soundtrack created by one artist. This way the result is a series of videos integrated in one single work.
Cinestesias (coordinator of this project) is a Spanish association whose main activities are focused on cinema and the audiovisual arts.
The coordination of this group is settled in Madrid where most of the members live. The most important goal is to promote the culture of cinema as a vehicle for diversity and open discussion, as well as the expression of new, younger perspectives.
The association organises activities around engaged films and discussions about the social questions they (re)present (civil wars, women, people in jail, marginal artists, etc.). Cinestesias also works on documentary film projects and produce a cinema magazine, creating a space for free expression and the analysis of films.
"El Cielo del Ojo" was the first project entirely coordinated by Cinestesias, obtaining the support of the program Youth in Action and Nisi-Masa, the European Network for Young Filmmakers.
