  2. A selection of footage from River Mermaids, a day long installation piece in the Wissahickon River performed in November 2014. This work was created for the Guerrilla Outdoor Performance Festival. Dressed in twenty-foot dresses, the performers sat at a table in the river, vacillating between modes of listening, play, and interacting with and mirroring their environment and passing people. They performed gestures and signs, graceful seated dances, slow revelations, and pedestrian actions creating a moving image that arose from the environment and accentuated the impulses that arose during the duration in the flowing river.

  3. This video is edited down from the full half hour version. It entitled Undoing, and it an improvisational research grounded in Judith Butler's text Undoing Gender. In this film, I am writing an auto(eroto)historiography. I am using my body to transcribe sensations, experiences, memories of undoing. I believe the body remembers, is transcribed by the past, holds the knowledge of history.Undoing, for me, is that place of creation where our histories meet the unspeakable architecture of our dreams. It is that deepest sensation of debilitating ecstasy and ecstatic sorrow which both shatter and rejuvenate me. The feeling of greatest sorrow and deepest ecstasy are possibly same, and it is that sensation which I name Undoing.

This is a collection of performance pieces and dance films by Elizabeth Weinstein. Elizabeth Weinstein is a Philadelphia based performance artist.

Like a prayer sung in the half life of dusk, like a hearty laugh from your mother's gut, like the vulnerable thickness of your natal earth. I let my body remember the dance, trace maps through the spaces I am from, and fall back into the resonance of this inheritance. My work is solo and collaborative, my work is next to a hospital bed and in the streets, my work is healing and off-key, and my work is the beginning of what has been undone.
