February 12th 2012: After a big demonstration more than 40 buildings burned in Athens. Also three cinemas were affected. ATHENS CALLING shows the atmosphere in a city, which got unsettled and rattled shortly after the events. With voices of Arthenians - filmmakers, teachers, teenagers and politicians - the film raises the question: Why this attac on the temples of culture?
Michael Fetter Nathansky (*1993) graduated this summer from High School and is student of the KÖLNER SCHREIBSCHULE in the 4th year. In August he will start an internship at HUPE FILM Köln.
Besides some short film practices, ATHENS CALLING is his first documentary. The film was originated within the SCREENAGERS documentary project UNKNOWN LIFE for young talents from Germany and Greece.
Through the early loss of his parents Ruben Bohnet (*1991) had to get on alone in our society out of the blue. But this destiny gave him courage and chutzpa, which he needed to shoot his first documentary ATHENS CALLING. Ruben Bohnet graduated this summer from High School.
