  2. This short has won 20+ Film Festivals around the world and was short listed for an Academy Award nomination.

The film is an allegory about the moment when a child is forced to choose between ideology and humanity while living and playing in a dangerous war environment.

Production was made possible entirely through charitable donations.

The producers are offering the film as a fundraising and publicity tool to non-governmental organizations working to improve the lives of war-affected children. The film’s promotional materials and screening events are intended to provide exposure opportunities for these groups.

  3. Consider this is a shout-out to all worthy educators of the world. Another example of the kind of work I'm given the opportunity to create for Jostens Corporation with the team at MultiMedia Inc.

  4. TELLY AWARD WINNER 2014
The Telly Awards has named Picture Factory as a Silver winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for their piece titled ‘Smashing Cancer’. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor. Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Picture Factory’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

  5. At Jostens Annual Sales Meeting I'm asked to shoot and edit small profile pieces like this in an effort to give a glimpse inside the minds of the most successful sales representatives within the company. As with most live events, this must be created on an extremely tight schedule to play on massive screens in front of large crowds. As a filmmaker I love this yearly project because of the instant feedback from a live audience - there is no better way to hone the craft.

Eric D. Howell is an international award winning writer & director with experience in every aspect of motion picture production. After working his way through technical filmmaking, Eric joined the Screen Actors Guild in 1992 as a stuntman and actor.  This experience propelled him into stunt coordination and 2nd unit directing. Feature credits include NORTH COUNTRY, JOE SOMEBODY, A SIMPLE PLAN, A SERIOUS MAN, among others.

After two seasons of directing half-hour narrative episodes for a children’s adventure series, as well as documenting the lives of children living in abject poverty for Non-Governmental-Organizations, Eric stepped away from the camera to earn a degree in screenwriting.

Recently Eric was dubbed by Shoot! Magazine “as one of the industry’s crop of new directors to watch”, and won the FADE IN Magazine 2012 Grand Prize for one of his feature screenplays. His short, ANA’S PLAYGROUND won top honors at twenty+ international film festivals and was short listed for an Academy Award nomination.  His latest short is receiving accolades on the festival circuit, including as a finalist for Best Short Film at an Academy Qualifying festival.

Currently Eric is wrapping post production on VOICE FROM THE STONE starring Emilia Clarke and Marton Csokas for producer Dean Zanuck.  He is represented by Jason Burns at United Talent Agency and managed by Michael Sugar and Jeff Okin at Anonymous Content.
