  1. Whence the Future? – lecture by Alfredo Cramerotti

Alfredo Cramerotti (MOSTYN ǀ Wales) will deliver a lecture on the idea of time, knowledge and future. Following a text co-authored with Jean-Paul Martinon (Goldsmiths College, University of London) and published in ‘The Curatorial. A Philosophy of Curating’ (Bloosmbury, 2013), Cramerotti asks us to abandon our androids, tablets, computers in order to rethink how the future comes? His reply is that it comes from the immemorial past that old stories (for instance, in newspapers) always seem to hold ready for us to discover. Once opened, the work then consists in curating for ourselves our own future. With Cramerotti, the curatorial knowledge becomes the way in which the future is articulated.

Established in 2000, the centre is committed to supporting innovative models for exploring dialogues between theory and practice through postgraduate and doctoral research, and through individual and collaborative projects. The work of eCPR demonstrates that the documentary strengths of photography remain as potent as ever. The centre has supported a series of Symposia and one-day Conferences and is part of a consortium involving the National Library of Wales and Ffotogallery to supplement the national archive for photographic research. 3. Alternativa 2012:
Alfredo Cramerotti - Tagging and Other Amenities of Contemporary Life

    25th of May 2012 (Friday)
5 PM Conference Room / Wyspa Institute of Art / Gdansk / Poland

Alfredo Cramerotti’s inaugural lecture will introduce a series of ’tags’, each discussed on its own terms, all taking on board the idea of how-to use various ’systems’ that govern/influence/complement/sustain our lives i.e. journalism, books, clothing, leisure, cooking and so on. Please don’t assume this would be an exhaustive list of words, as it is not. It will, however, include the following tags, among others: Footnotes, Midpoint, Leisure, Suspension, Reception, Curiosity, Knitting, Skyscraper, Access, Gap, Perspective, Hole, Dependency, Translation

Watch and discover by yourself how all these may come together and make (some) sense.

  4. A Close-up on Violence. Talk on the concept of ‘implicit violence’ – that is, violence that involves all of us, none excluded, in our daily life. Part 2 - Q&A with the audience.

Part of LRSN, LaRadioSiamoNoi: Extended Nervous Systems and White Rabbits by HEAD, Haute école d’art de et design Genève (Geneva University of art and design), Switzerland.

LaRadioSiamoNoi is a collaborative project with different tightly interconnected forums and laboratories forming a common platform, pointing out different aspects of the Italian free radios in the 1970s, their impact and aftermath. We want to rewind the evolution of the initiatives of that period, put them in relation to to each other and to parallel developments and also present actual projects referring explicitly to them.

Please check out my latest video journalism piece where I travel to Morocco for a unique look inside the Clinton Foundation: vimeo.com/132848094.

You’ve probably heard of the Clinton Foundation in recent weeks as it has emerged at the center of a controversy over questions of undue influence, foreign money, and backroom deals in American politics. Unsatisfied with the coverage over this controversy, I simply wanted to go see for myself what the Clinton Foundation does and if there is really anything for all of us to be worried about.
