Professor Andrew Canessa, from our Department of Sociology and Director of the Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, looks at some of the complexities and contradictions in being indigenous and focuses in particular on the lives of the people of Wila Kjarka where he was conducted anthropological research for over two decades.
