Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn't the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.
I sent the music to the photographer, Paulo Pinto, who I Googled on the internet. He told his editor, who told a reporter and the story ended up as an interview in the very same newspaper.
Here I've posted a short video made with the photo, the music and the score (composed by the birds).
When I made "Journey Into Tranquility", I thought "one day, I would really like to create both the audio and the video for my clips".
So here's my first attempt. The song is called "Peace". I illustrated it with some of my drawings. What a nice discovery to start to draw. It always gives me a very peaceful feeling :-).
It also made me think about our lives. Drawing is, or at least can be, a little like living one's life. First you look for something beautiful, something inspiring. Then, you sit down and contemplate it. And then you try to realize it. While choosing what to draw you already start to wonder about all the wonderful things that exist to be drawn. Then when you choose something you actually sometimes wonder why you chose this and not something else.
And then you try to draw. And there, it's funny. At some points, especially at the beginning, you are not really sure of what you are doing. Will these lines really start to make sense and look beautiful together ?? But little by little the picture starts to appear. And it is actually amazing to see things cristallize on your paper. And they become clearer and clearer and the work starts to become more to complete the details. And then at some point you feel it's finished. It's also funny : why exactly do you feel satisfied at one moment ?? Why not one line or shade more ?? And then you look at it. And you find it beautiful.
You started contemplating and you finish contemplating. But inbetween many things happened. You noticed things you did not notice before, you created a certain harmony and also became part of it.
And then you even start to get more aware of the life around you, because you start to look more. As you see the beauty in the little thing you drew - although it's not "perfect", you start to become aware of all the beauties surrounding us and that we sometimes do not notice. What an artist nature is !!! And all the fellow beings !!!
A couple of days ago, I was wondering on life stories of people. And I guess different ways of drawing could illustrate different ways of living. As far as I am concerned, I think life can be like a drawing that we attempt. We have an ideal, a beautiful horizon that makes us happy. It is so beautiful that we want to realize it, to incarnate it. At the beginning our attempts may be like the first lines on a paper ... we may not yet see all the coherence, the harmony, and the clear picture of what we do. But if we keep focused little by little our life becomes more and more like a beautiful drawing that is unfolding and that inspires others and ourselves :-).
I am already looking forward some day to start aquarell painting - it must be amazing to play with all these colours !!!
Peaceful energies and beautiful inspirations to all of you !!!
This is the first song I made on Garage Band quite a while ago. Recently, I felt like starting to draw and browsed the internet for beautiful artwork to inspire me. Thanks to all the painters for their beautiful work !!!
And that is how this clip came into being. What does it evoke to you ?? I found it very interesting that although it evoked a similar canvas to all my friends, they also got some very unsuspected inspirations :-).
Enjoy and lots of good inspirations to all of you !!!
