Man and machine, robot and puppet, craft and illusion, present and future. Attraction and disgust.
A hairy hand pats the smooth plastic cheek. A body vibrates slightly, the dead cloth seems to be alive. Two glass eyes look nowhere. Technically relational tracks bodies, gestures, encounters. The audience has no choice but to strike a relationship with the presented robots and puppets. The film confronts attraction with disgust, craft with illusion, man with machine, present with future.
Artificial surfaces attract, fascinate, amuse, but within the contact the point of view changes and care becomes irritation. The phenomenon of the uncanny valley hits us with every of the objects. The robots and puppets are not alive but designed to be human. It’s a game with the aim to reach acceptance and to see creatures not objects.

I made many stops in my trip throughout Europe in the Fall. My trip in Berlin was much shorter, thus it wasn't the dominant focus on the film, but I had to include the beauty and cultural splendour in my film because it was so unique

A CinePoem of Berlins trainstation Ostkreuz before the gigantomanic reconstruction 2005-2007.
The film bespeaks the loss of atmosphere, individuality and social ties, suggests that there is a difficult path to be taken between the trade-offs of necessary change and the preservation of evolved structures. It is an attempt to memorialize in poetic images this decrepit and yet so charming train station at Ostkreuz.
