SYNOPSIS:

This is part of the Film Trouvé oeuvre, our new contemporary artform, combining both original soundtracks and images into a short film.

"Giardino Paradiso",
this film is based around holiday stills, film and video footage of Venice, the black and white, colour kodachrome and ektachrome, TriX etc, footage is a pastiche of images and emotions entwined with an original soundtrack of ours.

This film represents the melancholy passage of time in a hot and dry, beautiful midsummer, but the everyday garden square has little to do with any garden paradise or Giardino Paradiso.
Maybe the camera had hoped to capture the sense of a Garden of Eden, within the stones of suffering.

The film is set in the Campo San Polo (Venetian square) we tried to capture the essence of the Campo di Ghetto Nuovo (Jewish Ghetto) in Venice, with the hundreds of years of history contained in the stones. Where, a memorial to the dead, names carved into the stones on the 'memory wall'. And the loss and grief.
As we were unable to film the square we chose the Campo San Polo, as its one of the squares where the Venice Film Festival shows the films. We felt it was surreal to actually film the Campo where new films are premiered.
The soundtrack amplifies the sense of longing: in the german language it is Sehnsucht, or in Japanaes Wabi Sabi, a combination of the longing for or grieving for, with poignancy and yet in a currently beautiful setting.
The film has been given a green tint to allude to the garden theme.
As the soundtrack ends. The final frames of the film, shot in Venice, bring the viewer back silently, to the theme of a holiday film.

This is in keeping with the Film Trouvé principles of using all kinds of images: profane or profound, everyday, or arbitrary images, to be reinterpreted at a later time to explore deeper, more conceptually the profound and inherent narratives.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE AUTHORS;

This genre is our biography.

The original imagery is combined with original soundtracks are written and produced by the authors.

The founding principle of Film Trouvé is that any seemingly arbitrary film, video or stills, for example in a holiday or any everyday or seemingly ordinary setting, are later reinterpreted and presented as a new thematic narrative.There are always underlying narratives to theses images, often unknowingly, for the photographer.

We believe it is the responsibility of Film Trouve exponents to uncover and present these inherently conscious, subconscious and/or unconscious visions and narratives that exist within every frame and every image.

The films are usually kept short and combined with a relating original soundtrack produced by the exponents of the Film Trouve. An additional challenge.
