Life finds a way of keeping most of us busier than we would like. Temperatures are now cold enough that my time on the water is fraction of what it should be, so I reviewed some old footage from July 2015 and banged out this edit. This short video is a taste of what happens when 3 Houska's find time off from other commitments to celebrate a birthday and shoot the bull while fishing at night and partying during the day, or something like that. On this trip we all met up at a place where wind is expected, only to find a lack there of. Fast paced, point and shoot style (mostly using the trusty ol' Gopro Hero 2) I hope you enjoy this ridiculous edit!
Three amigos (Joey Manship, Will Clausen and Greg Houska) jumped in the car from Salt Lake City to hit the water up North for 10 days. As plans sometimes go it didn't work out. We squeezed in one day, made the best of it, and Will Clausen kept the camera rolling for this edit he made from the day. Enjoy!
After a decade of calling Western Colorado’s Gunnison River Gorge area their home waters, the Houska brothers, Greg & Tom, share a glimpse of a summer well spent together guiding and floating the river. As the short film begins you immediately see why the Gunnsion Gorge is so unique – you have to carry all of your boating and fishing equipment over a mile into the deep remote canyon to the put in! As if that isn’t intense enough, there are 17 class II – IV named rapids in the 14 mile stretch.
Guarded by cliffs up to 2,700 vertical feet, the trout inside the Gorge grow to immense gold metal water standards with minimal angler contact. Perhaps, the best wild Brown Trout fishery in the Western US, you can see from this film exactly why the Houska brothers spend all of their time – guiding or not – inside the Gunnison Gorge.
Oh, and did we mention that every fish is caught on a dry fly?

We headed to Acsension Bay, Mexico to try out salt water fishing on the fly. Heres a cut from the trip with lots of fish porn and release shots. And no, we didn't kill the puffer fish, he eventually deflated and swam off. Enjoy!

Floated the B section on the Green River below Flamming Gorge with the old man the other weekend. Ended up rowing mostly and pulled out the camera for the second part of the day. Enjoy!
