Fuller staff and students sharing testimonies in the spirit of Psalm 19:7-10,14 during the All-Seminary Chapel on May 13, 2015.
This chapel service was a special time devoted to listening in song and prayer and testimony to the voices of people from very different corners of the world and our community. Some of the voices were cries of thanksgiving and hope, others were cries of deep anger and pain. All of this is important for us to hear as we seek to become a reconciling community that brings our real lives into worship together before the God from whom nothing is hidden and in whom all is held together.
“Diving In and Casting Out" - Master storyteller, preacher and theologian Dr. Walter Brueggemann uses 1 John 4:7-21 to bring home the story of Philip and his encounter with the eunuch in charge of the treasury of Ethiopia in Acts 8:26-40. As our society becomes more and more fearful, turning neighbors into enemies, the Gospel challenges us and helps us reverse that trend. Instead of perfect fear casting out love, perfect love casts out fear.
