This video gives a brief overview about the first teaching unit of the Grasshopper Screencasts for Designer and Architects. ‚Design Sketches from Grids‘ is about first foundations and provides a condensed point of access into the grasshopper realm of design related graphical programming.
This video briefly summarizes some of the basic concepts required to start with your own grasshopper definitions. To do so, while focussing on the grasshopper interface, it shows from scratch how to transform a 2-dimensional regular rectangular grid into a simple 3-dimensional geometry.
A short first exercise, which is a basic alteration of an existing script: Replacing a rectangular grid subsequently by a hexagonal and then a by triangular grid, and, in parallel, changing the display colours.
Short description of a basic exercise, which is about some alterations of a definition, which shall change the logic of geometry generation. Basically, it is about modifying translation and extrusion from 2d grids.
This video explains the use of unit vectors, vectors from planes, how to customize numeric sliders and the use of points to translate geometry by putting a prior definition into the context of interior design.
Heads up: the shoutbox will be retiring soon. It’s tired of working, and can’t wait to relax. You can still send a message to the channel owner, though!
