From a few years ago, the Glamor bar began to recruit foreign young girls from Africa and Eastern European. Have these foreign girls to be proud of this bar, and they become their business signs. Many of the local guests came to the Glamor bar just for "looking for different beauty"
"My job is actually very simple, every day starting 7 pm greet the guests along with other Chinese girls at the door, and then jump 2-3 different dances, of course, we changed these dances every two month, then drinking with Chinese people, playing games, until 2 am. “ Thelma said. There are other 4 African girls also from Zimbabwe and 5 Russian girls from Kazakhstan.
“I can’t be 22 forever, many young girls are trying to do this job, so when I old, I can’t dance anymore, I will move on” Thelma said. But for the future, Thelma not seems to have any very long-term plans, because she has always believed that everything is unstable.
Located in Guangdong City, Dongguan has developed from a small unknown agricultural county into the global famous manufacture industry base with as high as GDP of more than RMB 300 billion RMB during these 30 years. Millions of immigrant workers have become the primary residents in this city.
In 2008, the financial crisis arising from Wall Street spread the whole world immediately. When the most cities in mainland of China have not felt the crisis, Dongguan has encountered the unprecedented strike in the first round of attack of financial crisis. In last year, more than 1000 factories in Dongguan bankrupted or stopped production, millions of workers lost their jobs and return to their hometown together. The prosperous Dongguan at one time has been confronted with the huge change.
In the eye of the storm, even the situation is not too terrible, but it is absolutely not calm and involved in “predicament”. Dongguan in the eye of the storm just belongs to this situation. The city has been involved in difficult positions, and the people in the city have also been pushed into a kind of morass, perplexed and confused.
At Humen Dongguan, a well-known city in the whole country, Tan Fengxing was seated in the large-space office, checking carefully the newly produced lady T-shirt from her own factory, and in the next workshop, more than 30 workers were concentrating on their work, and the background was laden with the music from the radio and the noise from the machines.
Tan Fengxing was born in Humen but different from other local residents of Humen. Thirty years before, since the reform and opening-up policy, the locals have remised almost all their lands to the industrial zone, and started to live their life on the expensive rent and did not work themselves at all. However, Tan Fengxing did not have the property and store for rent. After graduation, she has ever worked the garment shop, but later, with the support from her family, she launched her own garment factory. At present, she and her husband are managing this factory together.
Since the explosion of financial crisis in the year before, many large-scale garment factories became bankrupt overnight, and the orders for her factory were reduced sharply. She was confronted with the unprecedented difficulties and hardships, but fortunately, she did not have mortgage crisis. In April of this year, Tan Fengxing moved the garment factory to Humen Beizha Industrial Area and rented one workshop, mainly for OEM manufacture of various garment for the brands in Zhejiang Province
At present, the workshop she has rented is the former property of the boss in Hong Kong and has four buildings in total. The factory was before a garment company specializing in the export orders and had more than 7000 employees, but last year, this factory went bankrupt silently within several months. Now her factory is only renting the smallest building but still she cannot bear the expense and has no choice but to sub-rent the third floor and the first floor to others, and her own factory only occupies the second floor. At present, her first floor is still for rent. Now many workshops are empty for rent in Humen, and quite a few investors has already left here in the winter of last year.
In the past years, she had to work overtime every day to fulfill the orders. But now for her, she will feel lucky if she could fully operate the factory during the daytime. “Now the business is difficult, and the financial storm makes it worse, and consequently, the number of clients has been decreased. In addition, the requirement is becoming stricter and stricter and the price tends to be lower and lower. Anyway on the basis of no loss, I will do what I can. After the financial crisis, many garment factories transferred their focus to the mainland for survival, which virtually resulted in the dispute of the mainland market. Tan Fengxing now is more cautious to ensure that each batch of goods are in best quality since any slight negligence might result in loss of one customer, which shall be a tremendous impact upon such small factory. “I know my own capability, and I just make full use of my finance capacity to do the business. At present, it is a better way to keep conservative for stability sake.” Therefore, as to the finance, she has her own way and never requests the loan from the bank, and as a result, she totally depends on her own financial support.
“I really have no idea what the future is like. If I cannot last to the end, then I do not have any choice. I just try to survive each day.” Tan Fengxin said.
At the beginning of the economic crisis last year, Xiaoping Island project stop in short-term, but after local government and banks injected large amount of money to the project, and then the reclamation project to re-accelerate.
Because of the short stop before, Many Concrete stones and other Cement boxes were piled up temporarily at the seaside, but five months later, these will be input into the sea.
The workers were busy pouring new cement box. Behind them, more than 20 fishing boats quietly moored at the artificial harbor where build two years ago. However, these vessels will have to leave here in future, because this is in planned high-level private yacht club.
At present, Xiaoping Island is a large-scale construction area, as a microcosm of China today. More than 7,000 workers from all over the country were assigned to pipeline on the 1.07 million square meters area. This kind of construction in Xiaoping Island will continue in next 10 years.
After 10 years, the coastline will be completely changed artificially.
