Andrew Iwach, MD, Board Chair of the Glaucoma Research Foundation and Executive Director of the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco discusses Glaucoma 360, a series of three annual events uniting research, industry, and philanthropy with one mission — to find a cure for glaucoma.
H. Dunbar Hoskins, Jr., MD, Co-founder of Glaucoma Research Foundation, discusses Glaucoma 360 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, February, 2012.
Progress in medicine is not always fast. But it requires three things. It requires dedicated scientists. It requires observant and involved clinicians. And it requires industry; industry to participate and bring forth to the market those devices and those drugs that are created through the two former groups. Without that combination, without that partnership, we would make no progress. The future we are recognizing today is a recognition that, through Glaucoma 360, we're bringing all those groups together to try to advance the developments for the purpose of one reason: to benefit the patients.
