This was my first flight in heavy rain in my new Lightsport. It was not as bad as I feared, although I was lucky that the rain had stopped by the time I came in to land.
In the air I just had to make sure I flew a bit faster than trim. I did a number of fairly flat turns at height with no serious problems. Don't even try a steep turn anywhere near the ground with a wet wing or you will spiral into the ground.
The last couple of days out at Dalby Qld Australia. The Dump Wedged Tail Eagle gave my glider a nasty tear today. Most Wedgies will only get aggressive during mating season but this particular fellow has had an attitude ever since he moved into the neighborhood some years ago.
A beautiful sunny Sunday at Stanwell. Paragliders and Hang gliders enjoying the light SE-E winds. Lots of take offs and landings.
This is a shorter and more compressed video, still trying to find the balance. Also again I did a curves adjustment to the video because on my machine using Videolan my default viewer, the video is just right. It will appear a bit darker on Vimeo and Windows Media Player if you download the original video.
This is mainly a video for the local pilots and tandems showing a few of the local pilots enjoying a beautiful day in between the rain showers at the premium coastal hang gliding site in the world.
I am biased as it is my home site. :-)
I have just noticed that the video plays back much darker than on my machine. I use Videolan or Windows media player classic to preview my videos. It appears that in .wmv format Vimeo and the default Windows Media Player show the video much darker and more saturated than the other players.
It does not seem to be the same when I use .avi so I will have to do some more experimenting.
I am still trying to find the best balance between quality and compression. It is hard to edit and compress 3 gig of video down to under 500 meg for the free Vimeo upload. When the Aussie dollar climbs back up I might spring for a paid account. :-)
