Got this morning some real nice footage of the new DHR-FX1000 in fully auto mode. Supposed to be a new King in the dark and look for yourself. It’s not stunning in dark environments but its more than OK. Ideal for event shooting (and before I had also a V1 and PD170)! All footage is shot in full auto mode. Gain goes up straight to +21db F1.6 50 in openings hot. Heineken lamps 0dB F1.6 50. Station clock F6.8 0dB 150 ! Station pigeon F2.8 18 dB 50. Also funny to see round highlights (front car lamps) you see a 6 star effect. Free filter with this camera thank you Sony? Like Mr. Zacuto (Steve Weiss) also noticed it is (as always) the skills of the camera operator to get the highest quality out of any cam. But because of the hard to work ergonomics wheels and knobs it’s really hard this time to get the most out of the settings and needs a lot of practice.
Winning Clip: A real fantastic DSLR event, December 11 2010. Not only my first live encounter with Mr. Bloom himself, but with so many passionated Video/Photographers. (Two boats about 70-90 total!) Please join us all again at Amsterdam Beach 1-1-11 noon in Cafe Rest: Haven van Zandvoort. Just come no need to book or ring! nieuwjaarsduikzandvoort.nl/content/home.asp?
Camera's used: Panasonic GH13 on SteadicamJR, Sanyo Xacti HD2000 + Fish eye Century by hand and Nokia N8 with ringlight!
Almost all the time in these hot but sunny Bali conditions I used a (FormattFilter) Polarizer in the Vocas Matte Box MB-210. It gives a much richer color effect and reduces reflections on water and treeleaves. I love my Polaroid sunglasses (also linear) you look streight through shiny windows and you don't see dashboard reflections in your carwindow. I filmed myself here with the Sanyo Xacti HD1010 also with a PL linear! (Dont't forget to take them off when its dark!) In my hands (most of the trip) the Sony HDR-FX1000E. vocas.com/pages/mb210.htm
Circular P was made for photocamera's because they often have a built in one. If you turn two Pola Linear in a certain position screen goes black. Was formely used for fade in fade out by some when the camcorder didnt offer that. The only videocamera which needed a Circular P was the old Canon XL1. But I didn't test all new ones.
