Stanford psychologist Kelly McGonigal, PhD, author of "The Willpower Instinct: How Self-Control Works, Why It Matters, and What You Can Do to Get More of It", debates some assumptions about whether habit design is the most effective way to create lasting change for issues ranging from obesity to addiction.

While skeptical at first ("f#$k Habit Design") I think Kelly ends up being more supportive of Habit Design in the end, you be the judge!

Habit Design® is the largest crowdsourced training community sharing best practices in developing sustainable daily habits that last beyond 100 days. Our goal is to spawn local "habit labs" across the world; over 100,000 members have participated representing 500+ companies, universities, non-profits, and other organizations.

We synthesize applied research across a wide range of habit designers including entrepreneurs, Wellness companies & professionals, non-profits, trainers, coaches, academics, and everyday enthusiasts. Some methods, tools, & frameworks we've covered include Behavior-Change Psychology, Captology (Persuasive Technology), Game Mechanics & Techniques, Behavioral Economics, Sociology, etc.

Colleagues that have shared their research with us include Dr. BJ Fogg, Leo Babauta (Zenhabits.net), New York Times reporter Charles Duhigg (author of "The Power of Habit"), Gretchen Rubin (author "The Happiness Project"), Dr. David Sobel (Kaiser Permanente), Dr. Kelly McGonigal (author, "The Willpower Instinct"), Dr. Peter Gollwitzer (Head, NYU Motivation Lab), and many others. By integrating these crowdsourced best-practices, we advance innovation in our community.
