Two Flarm equipped gliders are approaching each other at around the same altitude
A Duo Discus xT with original Flarm and dipole antenna and a DG808B with LX8000 and integrated Flarm unit.
The DG is climbing in a thermal and the Duo is flying towards the thermal at about the same altitude on final glide to it's destination
The Duo increases speed and is passing right below the DG about 100 meters lower and continues the flight toward the destination.
Both gliders had no Flarm indication of each other.
Afterwards both pilots communicated via telephone about this event and could not find a reasonable cause of this Flarm failure.
Later the DG800 pilot found out that his LX8000 Flarm was tuned to the wrong frequency.
A video impression of our yearly soaring spring break at St Auban. (http://www.cnvv.net)
Filmed with Panasonic HDC-SD5 avchd camera with 0,7 wide angle converter, edited wih iMovie, QT-export with "normal quality" 1280x720 to stay within vimeo file upload limits.
I'm not sure if my clips match the theme of this channel, they are created in HD and deal with soaring, but only in a virtual world. Maybe you will have a look at vimeo.com/3868700 and vimeo.com/1034755 ;)
