CBD, also known as Cannabidiol is the non-psychoative cannabinoid found in the cannabis and hemp plant.
CBD is responsible for many of the medical effects we attribute to smoking weed. Those include pain relief, anxiety relief, and more studies are being found daily that continue to test ways we can use CBD to enhance modern life. As it is a historically popular compound that is just being re-introduced into modern society.
Cannabidiol is the scientific name for CBD, it is a cannabinoid that we are finding possesses many medical applications.
It’s one of hundreds of cannabinoids found in Cannabis and hemp. Often confused with Tetrahydrocannabinol also known as THC which is the part of Cannabis that gives you that ‘high-feeling’ of euphoria.
Cannabidiol is at the centre of many scientific studies now that cannabis is legal in Canada, allowing funding to be given to proper research.
“we are already finding evidence that cannabidoil has the ability to reduce anxiety related symptoms. in fact, one trial found that
We are already finding in non-human trials that cannabidiol is able to reduce anxiety related symptoms, and in small random trails with people using placebo and cannabidiol - there are numerous studies already indicating positive results. For example this study, showing the increase of negative self-evaluation during public speaking was almost abolished by CBD
CBD oil can be taken in many forms, one of the most popular is Tincture form like this, from Headery.
The recommended dose is 20mg twice a day for mild relief. and 50-100mg for a stronger dose. The are other variants to be taken into account, like is it full-spectrum with many cannabinoids or just isolate powder? We recommend always trying to find full-spectrum and ones with terpenes, because then you get the entourage effect -
Entourage typically means, a group of people who surround and support an individual. A 1981 study (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2071597/) found that whole plant extracts produced 330% more activity than THC alone. The researchers hypothesized that cannabis contains “synergist” and “inhibitor” compounds.
The same is true for all the cannabinoids, as they acts in synergy and are more powerful when combined with one another.
This means full-spectrum oils will provide the entourage effect, but isolate products that use only the individual compound are significantly less potent.
Depending on your medium of use, how to take it varies. All products will state dosages on the label in fine print.
