Happy Holidays! On episode 253, Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder check their stockings to see if Santa dropped them off anything tasty. This year they must have been on the “nice” list because their stockings were full of beer. They each got a couple of bottles of New Belgium Brewing's Accumulation and Dark Horse 4 Elf. First they start with the New Belgium Brewing's Accumulation, a 6.2 % ABV White IPA. Following up the IPA, they move onto the Dark Horse 4 Elf. The 4 Elf is a 8.75 % ABV Winter Warmer that should get you into the holiday spirit.
Happy Holidays and thanks for watching the Hop Cast.
Welcome to the Hop Cast, where Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder share their love of craft beer with the world. In this weeks episode, Brad and Ken dive into two different midwest Pilsners. First up is the 5.5 % ABV Purple Gang Pilsner from Atwater Brewery in Detroit, Michigan. This beer was brewed in strict German Tradition and is a steady reminder of the German domination of brewing before and during prohibition. Next, the guys step it up a bit with the Imperial Pilsner from Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The My Turn Series: Pilo comes in at 8.0 % ABV. It's crisp, clean, and a deceptively big pilsner that packs a definite alcohol punch.
Hey Craft Beer fans, it’s time for a new episode of the Hop Cast. In episode 249, Brad Chmielewski & Ken Hunnemeder open up a couple Pale Ales. First up is the P2, a 5.54% ABV Belgian Pale Ale from our good friends at Penrose Brewing. This has been a go to beer for Brad and Ken lately; it’s juicy, finishes dry and is very easy to drink. Next Brad and Ken move onto the 2XONE, a 8.1% ABV American Pale Ale. It’s been awhile since we’ve had anything from Southern Tier Brewing Company on the Hop Cast and this was a nice treat. They are a fantastic brewery, making some great beer. These 2 beers were both pretty different which shows how varied and vast the Pale Ale category can be.
Cheers and thanks for watching and supporting the Hop Cast.
Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder are back at the Aragon Ballroom for another beer Hoptacular.
In this episode Ken and Brad sample a ton of great beer and even find a few moments to talk with a few great local beer folks. Including Claudia Jendron the Brewmaster at Temperance Beer Company, Chris Tourre from Arcade Brewery, and Lisa Zimmer from MillerCoors. If you made it out to this years Hoptacular, I’m sure you had a great time and if you missed it, keep your eye out for the next one.
In episode 247 of the Hop Cast, Brad Chmielewski and Ken Hunnemeder dive into a couple variations of Ballast Point Brewing Company’s Sculpin IPA. These both look like the Sculpin IPA you know and love but with a little twist that might turn some folks away or make them love Ballast Point even more. First up, Brad and Ken open the Grapefruit Sculpin, an IPA with grapefruit rind. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer. Next up they destroy their pallets with the Habanero Sculpin, an IPA with Habanero peppers added. Sculpin are known to sting, but this one’s got a kick. Both these beers were really fun to taste side by side and see how a slight variations can give you something so unique.
