  2. Pupils from Ysgol Estyn Primary School visited Hope Parish Church for the War Stories exhibition and with the help of teachers and project leader Dave Healey investigated the stories of local heroes who served in The Great War.
    This experience will hopefully help to keep the memory of our brave men alive for another generation.

  3. The relatives of George Vincent Davies meet to share personal stories, letters and heirlooms and fondly remember the short life of brave young soldier 'Gunner' George who died for King and Country during WWI aged 21 years.

  4. Private Sydney Pugh enlisted in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and was posted to the Dardanelles in August 1915 to fight the Turks. He was killed in action on the second day he arrived to fight in the infamous Gallipoli Campaign aged just 23 years.

  5. Brothers Charles and Geoffrey Trevor-Roper came from a wealthy Flintshire family. Both were killed within weeks of each other in 1917 whilst engaged in fighting near Ypres.

    Project leader Dave Healey shares the tragic story of these brave brothers with a group of schoolchildren.

    There is a memorial plaque dedicated to both brothers in Hope Parish church.
