One of the most rapidly-changing areas of the entertainment industry is cameras. The industry has moved from film to a digital base, and along the way has adopted a whole host of new tools. These range from the cameras themselves, with a bewildering array of new models, each with its own quirks. What are the differences between the Red and the Arris? How does 4K compare to a DSLR? What is a DIT? How has the workflow changed? What is the truth behind green screen action?
There are two main interviews with this series:
KEVIN KEISER and ADAM KERCHMAN
New York based cameramen Kevin Keiser and Adam Kerchman discuss the differences between shooting in New York and LA; the future of cameras; new lighting technology; aesthetic differences between "old school" and the newer styles; and how the camera department interacts with other keys.
In one of INDUSTRY INSIDER's pilot episodes, camera veteran Marty Mullin discusses film vs. digital; new trends; and how performers interact with the camera department.
ABOUT THE SERIES...
"Digital Media Industry Insiders" is a series of instructional videos featuring entertainment industry newcomers interviewing pros on all aspects of how the industry works, strategies for entering a particular field, and what areas are primed for greatest job growth.
Sponsored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Department of Economic and Workforce Development Information Communication Technologies and Digital Media Sector Los Angeles Region.
Our videos are organized by career pathway, with industry pros representing each sector. Each pro is interviewed by recent industry incomers not only in their particular area but also in other crafts to show how the different aspects of production work together -- and where confusions can arise!
