The world of the television is executive is one that is in constant flux. Every decade, it seems, the rules are completely changed and only the very nimble can survive let alone prosper long term. Meet Syd Vinnedge. Syd is one of the real "mad men," whose career started on Madison Avenue at J. Walter Thompson advertising agency.

Syd is one of the pioneers of late night television, having created MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, one of the first shows other than THE TONIGHT SHOW which proved that there was an audience for late night, on Saturday, for younger audiences. Entering the world of the television executive, Syd then produced AMERICA'S TOP TEN, a successful show featuring Casey Kasem that was one of the first series to regularly and openly utilize music videos in the days before MTV.

Following that, Syd is a pioneer in the world of scripted first run syndication and having a foreign market be an integral part of any television program business model. The series that he championed is BAYWATCH, which ran for eleven seasons and created the pathway used by later series such as XENA and HERCULES. More recently, Syd was responsible for Drew Carey joining THE PRICE IS RIGHT and the successful relaunching of FAMILY FEUD. Today, he is busy setting up co-production deals in China.

In this series of interviews, Syd tells the story of how he got to be where he is; provides useful tips for those entering the entertainment business, and gives special advice to writers.

At the end of the series is Syd's appearance at the 2014 Digital Media Educators' Conference.
