Imagineer Systems: mocha planar tracking videos

  1. An effect I did for the Nick Toon series of Aliens sucking the souls out of teenagers at a rave. This involved motion tracking in Mocha as well as using the point tracker from After Effects, eye replacement, and Andrew Kramer's soul sucking tutorials. The glowing eyes were improvised, mainly using Trapcode plugins, some cat eyes, natural lighting, and a lot of patience fixing the motion tracks!

  2. A small little video I directed. We shot the video in 1 12 hour day. I did the editing and VFX on it in about 6 days. We turned the cubes with the green side facing up, keyed out the green squares, and composited the mosaic behind the black lines. All the effects were done in After Effects and the puzzle was tracked in Mocha.

I covered the pre-production process in an earlier blog post with a test video that can be seen at The picture frames were tracked with Mocha and composited in After Effects CS6.
