Enabling Frameworks – Our talk explores the work of Minimaforms and our pursuit for design that can enable engaged, durational and evolving interrelationships between people, machine and their environments. As information rich environments and human machine interfacing are rapidly progressing so to is the need to explore new models of interaction that are spatial and participatory, moving beyond screen based systems towards models of spatial interfacing that are emotive and shared. A designed environment developed within our research explores scenarios that enable human curiosity and play, forging intimate exchanges that are emotive and evolving over time. The talk will explore the work within a rich history of evolving relations between man and machine within cybernetic, conceptual, computational, kinetic, and light based experiments from the late fifties through seventies.
