Madison Avery, for whom we directed her American Dream video, asked us to help her get to college. Our task was to help with her crowdfunding video. So, we wrote the script, which got tweaked by Madison a bit, and we set to work.
Early on, we didn't want the video to look like it had been overly produced so we set up some ground rules. We didn't use the same mics throughout the whole video. Sometime,s we employed the on camera mic and sometimes it was a wireless lav. Sometimes, we had ambient noise and sometimes we had clean audio. We used the same camera and but over and under exposed as needed. We used stock locations and just showed up to use properties.
This video did give us a chance to use Madison's comedic persona however allowing her genuine sincerity of reaching her goals shine through the lens. We got to use sound effects that were goofy, which we don't get to use often enough as well as rather melodramatic music for the scenes at hand.
