Jack Goldenberg reportage:
Cephalonia is the largest island in the Ionian Sea, located south of Lefkada and Ithaca and north of Zakynthos. Mostly it is mountainous island which consists of two related parts - east, which is facing the mainland and has beautiful beaches which are gradually entering the sea and west, whose precipitous land descends into the sea. Goldenberg says that Cephalonia is rich with natural treasures which give this island gives a special charm. The island has the highest pick of all Greek islands and it’s called "Black Forest", a rarity in Greece and in Europe, adds Jack Goldenberg. It is the home of black Cephalonia fir trees, which could be found only on this island. Because the composition of the rock is limestone, erosion has made numerous caves and fissures in the ground. The shoreline is filled with bays and ridges. Briefly, Cephalonia is an island with wonderful scenery, beautiful beaches, charming places, and peace and tranquility.
