Show Date: February 14th & 15th, 2015
Location: Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, WI
Guide: Charter Captain Brian Settele [414-559-9238 | fishchaserguideservice.com]
It’s cold outside, which means we’re usually on frozen water ice fishing. This week we take a break from ice fishing to open water fish Lake Michigan with Charter Captain Brian Settele and special guest Jordan Gustman from M-W Marine. Brian tells us the colder the water is, the better the fishing is on the lake. The best place to set up is near any place where warm water enters the lake, the baitfish congregate there, so thats where the big fish are. We are jigging using plastics, spoons, and Kastmasters. These fish hit hard, and fight harder.
Show Date: March 21st & 22nd, 2015
Location: Lake Erie, Port Clinton, Ohio
Guide: Charter Captain Mike Patterson [419-308-6925 | mikessportfishing.com]
Ice fishing Lake Erie for walleye is a treat for any angler, which is why we had to come back. Having ice on Lake Erie for any duration of time affords anglers a shot at a record walleye, and almost guarantees a personal best. When our guide Mike Patterson told us there was still fishable ice in March, we make the last-minute decision to come back for a second trip.
It was well worth it, with a few people in our group catching monster fish, and everybody enjoying beautiful weather for the day and a half that we were there.
Show Date: April 4th & 5th, 2015
Location: Fox River, De Pere, Wisconsin
Guide: Brett Jolly [715-581-5678 | captainjollycharters.com]
This week we’re in De Pere Wisconsin with charter captain Brett Jolly to fish the spring walleye run that happens each year in the rivers around the state. The walleye are headed up stream to spawn, and the night-bite is usually the best time to put a trophy in your boat. A jig & minnow and plastics like the Kalin’s Grub and Jerk Minnow are the baits we’re using throughout most of the day. After dark we cast crank baits to lure in the big female fish that are out feeling before the spawn.
