1. Tamara Gignac is a longtime Calgary Herald reporter recently diagnosed with inoperable Stage IV colon cancer. She is now in a fight for her life.

On Sept. 16, 2014, a truly remarkable event took place in Calgary. In an amazing show of solidarity, Calgary's community came out in force to show support for Tamara Gignac and for the cause that has become #teamtamarayyc. More than $100,000 was raised.

Produced by Kerianne Sproule and Leah Hennel for #teamtamarayyc.

  2. More than 2,500 Calgarians gathered Thursday for a picnic at a secret location. They were all dressed in white.

An accurate term to describe this night could be "magical."

    Produced for SwerveCalgary.com.

  3. Le Cirque de la Nuit kicked off with a premier show that was sure to unleash your inner circus freak. Kintala featured the musical stylings of Calgary’s own 8 piece live band, Freak Motif, the glitchy swing sounds of DeFunk, gypsy swing connoisseur Bass Caravan, the sweet soul lady of house, Miss Isis Graham and Banff’s up-in-coming sensation, Dj Sele Sell.

  4. Kimberly Parsons is a local fashion designer with one of the biggest hearts I've ever known. For the last number of years, for as long as I can remember, she has dedicated her life to following her dreams. As if that's not already inspiring enough, she does it not for her own gain...but for the benefit of others. In fact, I've never seen her do anything solely for herself.

What happens when Kimberly starts a small business? Her business determines itself to benefit a local clothing charity in Vancouver. What about when she pours her life into planning for a giant solo fashion show? She donates much of the proceeds to the Animal Rescue Foundation.

And this is one of the many reasons why Kimberly is so great. Why her beautiful (I'm not kidding...check out her gear at lazydogclothing.com...her stuff is awesome) art needs to be supported- because every day she wakes up with the amazing resolve to lighten the burden of those around her.

If I can be even a little bit more like her, I'll be proud. But I hope that I can do it while wearing a Lazy Dog raincoat :)

The song in this video is "Welcome to Freedom" by the award-winning music producer Jaiprime. Also shown is amazing Vancouver indie artist Jordan Klassen. Both are lifelong friends.
