La Bellone - Maison du Spectacle/House of Performing Arts
- A transcript of the conversation between Anne Molitor and Marie-Rose Meysman in the beginning of All of Aikido part 2.
The most beautiful facade of Brussels
This house was built in 1697 by Cosyn, an architect who restored and rebuilt several houses in the Grand Place of Brussels.
Serge Creuz, painter and scenograph, was looking for a place to keep records of all kind of spectacles and when we saw this house, we fell in love with the court yard.
After that we expanded to the new buildings at the opposite side of the court. Then what changed our life here was the construction of the glassroof. The house changes color all the time and it creates different light and atmosphere at each moment of the day.
Progressively the house became not only a place to keep the memory of the art of spectacles but also a meeting place of different artists. It is very important for us.
All of this, under the watchful eyes of the goddess, Bellone.
This facade remains the heart of the house. She is the goddess of war but looks particularly gentle and peaceful.
