Predictions is a site - specific performance, specially designed for Robert Morris’ Observatory – a famous land art work near Lelystad. The function of a "cosmic compass" intended in Morris’ work serves as a starting point - my focus diverts however from the movements of the sun and the planets. Instead I observe the site’s immediate environment: a steady flow of trains, trucks, cars and bicycles forming ever changing constellations. As patterns emerge and established, a series of predictions result is a scenario where daily chance and a perhaps grander scheme intersect.
The script is enacted by 12 performers, 4 vehicles, 1 helicopter and a motorcycle gang. Audience is situated on one of the hills of the Observatory about 100 meters from the action. They can hear the predictions through individual headphones, and observe which of them come true and which don’t.
