This time-lapse was inspired by the “Empty America Series” by Ross Ching and the Nibiran jungle scene in Star Trek Into Darkness. When I first saw the scene in Star Trek, it made me wonder how color infrared would look if we could see it with our own eyes, unaided by IR filters. After seeing the movie and watching Ross’s series I thought about how a totally empty city (such as Philadelphia) would look in Kodak EIR style infrared.
Hope you all enjoy and thanks for viewing!
All scenes were shot around Philadelphia using my full-spectrum digital camera and a yellow filter. A full spectrum camera is a camera that has had it's IR blocking filter removed, allowing the camera to see into the infrared. The yellow filter blocks all visible light up to yellow and allows infrared to pass through. The first scene and time-lapse title was prompted by an infrared series that I’ve been shooting over the years called “Wonderland”. If you are interested in seeing some of the photos from this series check out the link below:

All Time-lapse sequences were taken by the astronauts onboard the International Space Station (ISS) (Thanks guys for making this available to the public for use!) All footage has been color graded, denoised, deflickered, slowed down and stabilized by myself. Clips were then complied and converted to 1080 HD at 24 frames/sec.
Some interesting tidbits about the ISS. It orbits the planet about once every 90 mins and is about 350 Km/217 miles. The yellow/greenish line that you see over the earth is Airglow.
Hope you all enjoy it and thanks for watching!
P.S. It would be a dream to actually be up there in the ISS. Btw NASA, if you need a Biochemistry Ph.D to do some work for you up there, I’m your man, LOL!

/ About the Project
The remnants of the past are still a significant part of the modern era. Our cultural institutions are the product of those who lived before us and of the societies they built.
For this project, I travelled to 14 cities in 4 countries filled with history: England, France, Italy and Spain. Each of these countries had a major influence in shaping the world in which we live in.
In Civilization: The Rise of Europe you will see the remains of the vast Roman Empire, the intertwined Muslim, Christian and Jewish cultures, the birthplace of the Age of Enlightenment, the European emblem of parliamentary democracy as well as many UNESCO World Heritage sites.
It is also those same countries that would eventually embark on a journey to the New World and build the foundations of America.
Civilization will make you travel in the past, but also in the present, to show you the enormous steps mankind has made throughout history. Hopefully it will give you awareness of our incredible cultural heritage.

Bonjour, bienvenue Mesdames et Messieurs, don't you just love a little bit of adventure, following a last minute plan to visit Paris by car from London the night before, I figured the best way to see Paris in just a few hours was from the magnificent Eiffel Tower, je vous remercie beaucoup pour regarder :)

itunes.apple.com/us/app/miniatures-tilt-shift-time/id417005566?mt=8 the minatures & timelapse app that I used, please let me know if you would like any tips. It was very windy that day and as I drove I brought along my Gitzo tripod head and heavier manfrotto tripod which I had used in Brighton, I used the tripod adaptor from the steadicam smoothee and lots of blutack and held it down to minimise the strong winds :)
