1. This 9 minute video recorded May 2015, claims to show the first operating garden railway in the Meridian Manor Community in Apache Junction, Arizona.
    (more below)
    * Part 1/3: 0:00 - 2:47 - shows the layout operating.
    * Part 2/3: 2:47 - 5:05 - shows the trains as viewed down at “track level”.
    * Part 3/3: 5:05 - 8:52 - discusses the back-and-forth “point-to-point” system in more detail. (MORE BELOW)

    This layout may qualify as the least-landscaped railway in the Phoenix area -- and operated by the ABTO’s (Arizona Big Train Operators) least talented member -- that would be me :-). But we claim this to be the Meridian Manor community’s FIRST operating garden railway.

    All but 3 of the buildings are from the late Bill Nagle’s old layout in Chandler AZ. The LGB 2-10-2 and the LGB Mallet steam locomotives are also from Bill’s layout. The Eagle Wings Ironcraft modules that I purchased 2nd hand from Dan Hoag, were assembled courtesy of ABTO member Jim Riddle.

    The 2 engines operating on the “mainline” are being controlled by an NCE brand DCC system. The Mallet running point-to-point is being controlled by an old PH Hobbies automatic reversing unit.

  2. This 10-minute video shows a few shots in Montoursville, Williamsport (including the Newberry Yard), and Jersey Shore -- taken from the passenger seat of Joel W's #334 Western Maryland speeder.

    (FYI, Joel's unit is a Fairmont M-19, 15 horsepower, 2-cylinder, 2-cycle, single speed belt-driven unit. It has no reverse gear (or any gears). To back up, he skillfully turns off the ignition switch, waits until the motor almost stops in the correct position, then turns the ignition back on at just the right time, to start the motor running backwards. He has to hand-crank it to start it. Other speeders have multi-speed transmissions, 4-cycle engines, and electric starters.)

    If you're not real familiar with what a "Speeder" is, the Narcoa website at narcoa.org tell you more. Narcoa is an acronym for North American Railcar Operators Association.

  4. This video is a quick tour of Fred Cupp's HO train layout, the Delaware and Hudson Adirondack Branch.

    It is NOT easy getting Fred to talk in front of the camera, so we consider this to be a "lucky break" that we now have him "captured" on video.

    The first 17 minutes is video that is narrated by Fred, and the last 4 minutes shows some still photos. Note that some of the photos were taken in the "early days" of the layout, when the scenery was not started in some places.

    * Track2.com - Links to more model railroad videos, mostly North Central Pennsylvania.
