The latest name to open their doors for my Behind the Brand interview series is the innovative Sydney label 'Song for the Mute'.
The high end label have made a big name for themselves in a short period of time as their stylised high-quality product has become a staple for many celebrities around the world, and it seems that there is as much texture to the brand's story as their is to their garments.
With a passionate approach to textile development and manufacturing everything within the brand is about challenging the norm and pushing the boundaries.
Enough from me though - the brand's founders Melvin and Lyna can take you through the rest of the story by pressing play!
A big thanks to Ben setting this up, and to Adam for his help.

Back in 2015, I had the pleasure of working with Oyster Magazine to Direct the 'We Are The Makers' series for the iconic Strand Arcade; an iconic mainstay of Sydney retail that champions Australian craft and design.
Among the many brands that I worked with, Artisan Shoemaker Andrew McDonald made a lasting impression, with his incredible product producing a tactile and visceral quality that I found incredibly inspiring.
"Odyssey" delves into the mind and creativity of Andrew to showcase an interwoven tapestry of stories. Each story represents a narrative that will only see its subject reach their destiny with the help of McDonald's craft and product. He is inspired by them, and his work completes them.
A stellar cast, including Astrid Holler (who has worked with the likes of Burberry Prorsum, Marni, Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, and famously opened for Alexander Wang at NYFW) each provide scenes with different values that each represent Andrew's core brand values.
Produced by In The Thicket, and with Creative skills of Sean Gaji, and the amazing work of DOP Andrew Buckley, I am excited to share this body of work that makes a foray into Fashion Film with a TVC/Short Film approach and sensibility.

Based around the iconic Dylan Thomas poem of the same name, Do Not Go Gently Into This Good Night uses interwoven art form vignettes to make a commentary on how the implementation of recent restrictive night-time laws and regulations within Sydney have created a sense of abandonment, isolation and at times fear within the city’s once thriving and inspired youth culture.
Featuring a cast of emerging talent from the fashion and performance world(s), clothing from Song For The Mute, and music from a duo of International composers (including up and coming Australian band The Lastlings), the piece has been created to offer a stylised contemporary take on the iconic poetry with a series of vignette’s all interwoven by the notion of youth embracing or rejecting different interpretations of light.
