Laguna Presbyterian Church

  1. Today is Sunday, July 25th, 2021.

We are so glad you are joining us in worship this morning. We are delighted to welcome guest preacher the Rev. Dimitris Boukis.

We continue our series in the Book of Acts, The Emerging Post-Pandemic Church. "Your Prayer Is Answered" from Acts 12:1-18 is the message given by Rev. Dimitris Boukis. In our passage this morning, we see the church beginning to suffer persecution from the religious authorities, specifically King Herod. Herod is determined to kill the leaders of the Church, James (brother of John, the Sons of the Thunder) and Peter. But, as the church gathers to pray in troubled times, we are assured of two things: 1) God hears and 2) God answers these prayers (not always in the way we expect!). Our Summer Choir and Praise Team lead music. Sookyung Bang begins and ends this service with an organ prelude and postlude.

  3. Today is Sunday, July 11th, 2021. We are so glad you are joining us in worship this morning.

We continue our series in the Book of Acts, "The Emerging Post-Pandemic Church." Beth Pinney's message is in Acts 9:1-20, "Get Up and Go!" We look at one of the most powerful conversion stories in the New Testament, Saul, on the road to Damascus. How God works in our lives individually? How does God work in our lives through the community of faith? What does this story have to teach the church in our time? We give thanks for God's amazing grace and that the gospel is for everyone!

The call to worship (Psalm 67 and 106) is spoken and sung by the Praise Team and the Summer Choir. Anne Herzog and Gail Onodera give the Children's Story and Camron Hauer reads the Scripture.

Patricia Angus gives flowers, "In celebration of God's love through Jesus Christ." Bob and Sharlene Rauch give flowers, "Blessed with 60 years of marriage."

We are so glad you are joining us in worship this morning.

We continue our series in the Book of Acts, “The Emerging Post-Pandemic Church.” Steve Sweet’s message is in Acts 8:26-40: “One Step Beyond.” We look closer at the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. What is the purpose of this story in Acts? How do we see God at work, moving the Gospel to the ends of the earth? Who has been a Philip in your life? Whom might God be using you as a Philip in the life of another? God’s love is calling us to come one step closer.

Music is lead by our Chancel Bells, Praise Team, and Organ. Songs include: Holy Manna, Crown Him, America the Beautiful, How Great Is Our God, Lord, I Need You, Desert Song, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

We welcome Abigail Garcia as our new Worship Leader and Beth Pinney as our Associate Pastor of Worship, Discipleship, and Congregational Care. Linda White, Director of Choirs, reads the scripture, and Gus Altuzarra shares our generous giving goal for July of 120k.

  5. Today is Sunday, June 27, 2021. We are so glad you are joining us in worship this morning.

We take a slight detour (but not entirely) from our journey through Acts. This morning is Rev. Dr. Kathy Sizer’s last Sunday with us as our installed Associate Pastor as she retires on June 30, 2021. Kathy has chosen to preach on prayer, “Ask and It Shall Be Given.” Helping people to pray to God, to be in God’s presence, and to come to know God more intimately has been among Kathy’s greatest passions in ministry. In her sermon, she reflects on Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 7:7-11, and Romans 8:26-27. You will find her message helpful, comforting, inspiring, and encouraging.

We have selected many of Kathy’s favorite hymns for this service: For All the Saints, O God Beyond All Praising, We Will Remember, Healing Grace, and Be Still.

Can we pray for you? We invite you to send prayer requests to us by email at prayer@lagunapreschurch.org. Your prayer requests are kept confidential. Our pastoral staff and prayer ministry team will pray for you throughout the week.
