The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission organized the 34th annual celebration of the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. The event took place in the Lansing Center. It featured speakers from the community and the political sphere, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Senator Gary Peters, Representative Elissa Slotkin, Mayor Andy Schor, and Mayor Mark Meadows. As well as keynote speaker, Governor Douglas Wilder (VA). Live music was provided by Donnie McClurkin, Rodney Lamar Page, The Dream Orchestra, and Pastor Larry M. Trice.
