Make It Interesting

  1. Took some shots of my favorite guitar. This was a little low-light test I did in 30p mode with locked exposure. I decided to put it to music and edit it. I also did some post-processing to some of the clips.

About the guitar (for those interested):
    2004 Fender Lite Ash Strat
Warmoth Pro 10"-16" compound radius neck - maple neck & mahogany fretboard w/ stainless frets
    LSR Roller Nut
    Schaller Locking Tuners
Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro p'ups (neck & middle)
    Lace Sensor Red p'up (bridge)

    Enjoy

  5. So I've got this old Powerbook 140 I bought at First Saturday in Dallas about a year or two ago. I found sitting on the cement, upside down next to a box of Dells. The vendor sold it to me for a buck. He SAID it didn't work at all, but it turns out he's a liar. If you hold down the power button for five minutes, then BASH it in, the thing starts to make crazy noises and flicker. After it does that for a few minutes, it starts to restart over and over again. After maybe twenty minutes, it finally brings up the screen prompting me to insert the System 7 floppy, which I've since misplaced. Basically, it's completely useless.

But I've found it's struggle for survival quite amusing, since it's almost 18 years old and I found it lying upside down on the pavement. And since Vimeo started this "Make it Interesting" thing, where you take a single thing and try and make it interesting through filmmaking techniques, I decided to give this little guy a purpose. I was partially inspired by Daft Punk's Electroma, hence the song choice. I felt it was fitting.

It also gave me a chance to toy with my Canon HV20, which I still haven't really put to good use. I have a thing for dark HD footage with just a hint of light. Call me crazy.

Anyway, enjoy this horribly depressing video of a dying powerbook.

One of the things we learned in college for videography was to take one subject and make it interesting, even though in reality, it's boring with one shot. I wish I still had my footage from then so I could use it as a sample, but I'll do a new one to show you what I mean. I'm going to take a mailbox, and only the mailbox, and make it interesting by showing different shots, pans, and angles. You can take anything you want, as long as it's one subject only. Could be a person, a thing, animal, tree, you name it.
I'll upload the mailbox later once i'm done shooting and editing.
Have fun! *Remember, play with pans, close-ups, different angles...
