  1. When your days are numbered, you hang around for your replacement.

No CC, I went to that dreaded place for this shoot... 200x zoom!

  2. I shot this with a naked Canon Vixia HV30 camcorder set to PF24 recording mode. In addition, the AE was in Shutter Priority (Tv) mode so I had more control. I adjusted the shutter to Tv 100 and I locked the exposure at 0. I'm not sure, but some shots may have been taken with exposure locked to -3.

For lighting, I used an Uplift Day-Light Natural Light Lamp that is meant for the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder. It works well as a lightbox though.

I edited it in Final Cut Pro with a little help from Magic Bullet. I did all the audio in Soundtrack Pro using samples from freesound.org and I think it turned out fine.

  3. I got a few of these little buildings for Christmas last year and decided to make a video.

  4. Some footage of a whale sculpture at Waryas Park at the riverfront in Poughkeepsie, NY.

  5. This flower as an analogy for the plucking of millions of acres of forest; by us; by you; by me.

    Here's some stats for everyone:

*Rainforest are home to about 50% of the world's species.
*Each day at least 80,000 acres of forest disappear from earth and another 80,000 acres of forest are degraded.
*Deforestation accounts for up to 25% of global emissions of heat trapping gasses (14% transit and industry; 3% aviation.)

This is my entry for the Climate Matters Contest.

One of the things we learned in college for videography was to take one subject and make it interesting, even though in reality, it's boring with one shot. I wish I still had my footage from then so I could use it as a sample, but I'll do a new one to show you what I mean. I'm going to take a mailbox, and only the mailbox, and make it interesting by showing different shots, pans, and angles. You can take anything you want, as long as it's one subject only. Could be a person, a thing, animal, tree, you name it.
I'll upload the mailbox later once i'm done shooting and editing.
Have fun! *Remember, play with pans, close-ups, different angles...
