The first episode in the new series 'Marion's Thailand' featuring Marions Grasby as she introduce us to her family's Thailand and authentic Thai cuisine. The series opens with Marion and her Mum, Noi in a tuk-tuk heading for Soi 38 in Bangkok for some classic Thai street food - just to get your taste buds going. The it's off to meet her Thai family, in a little rural village called Nakhom Chung, where the family's own recipes - and much of the series, is set.
One of our favourite recipes from the Marion's Thailand series - and definitely the most simple. Fresh crunchy water spinach cooked hot and fast with garlic, fish sauce, lime juice and sugar.. and loads of hot chilli. Yum. This scene was filmed in Marion's Uncle Siep's traditional Thai house in the village of Nakhon Chung, with just a wok and a flame (which is what we nearly called the series..) and was one of the first recipe webcasts we did for the promotion of Marion's Kitchen.
This recipe is one of a few we filmed in a kitchen we designed and built especially for Marion's series - at the Away Resort near Hua Hin in Thailand. This Chicken Laab recipe looks amazing.. and tastes just as good.
Haw Mok Plaa is a hugely popular Thai dish, served in markets stalls everywhere. Fish, Red curry paste and coconut cream, commonly like a pate - this is Marion's own (particularly delicious) take on this classic Thai favourite.
