This piece is an edit of a long-form improvisation recorded straight to 2-track. Lampeo is on percussion with his 12U eurorack modular and Lightbath is on melody using Mutable Instruments Tides & Rings played live with a QuNexus into Make Noise Erbe-verb.
The practice of improvising as a duo with Todd Hocherl (aka Lampeo) goes back more than 20 years. In the 90's it was guitar and drums, but these days it's modular synthesizers. This past November we had a session at my family's home in the town where we both grew up. It had been years since we had played there, but this was our first session on modular synthesizers. It's no surprise that we fell into similar roles with Todd's approach being percussive and my approach being melodic.
Footage shot in the backyard in Pennsylvania two days after the session using an iPhone 6.

Performed on a modular synthesizer using Ableton Live for effects and mixing.
In August of 2015, I hosted a music/camping party at my home in the Catskills and closed the night out with my first modular live performance. Other artists performed included two snake plants and a handful of people the likes of Gen Ken Montgomery, G Lucas Crane, Joe and Jon from Data Garden, Lampeo, et al.
