Fallen Rise is an experimental film by Mark Billy Svensson that depicts the struggle between the conscious and unconscious mind.
After reading the brief and viewing the film I set out to record domestic object sounds and soundscapes in central London. My initial goal was to create two distinct sound libraries that would represent the conscious and unconscious mind states respectively. I sonically represented the conscious mind with the design of percussive discrete sounds and the unconscious mind with sustained evolving timbres.
The recordings I captured for this film were manipulated using homemade algorithms of a variety of processing and effect techniques within Cycling '74 Max/MSP. I regularly met with Svensson to bounce ideas and ensure the music was heading towards a mutual destination. The most challenging part for me was to amend and/or discard sounds that were rendered useless as the recorded film reached final edits.
This is my first scoring project made public and I strongly welcome comments and shares. Thanks in advance for watching and sharing. You're awesome!
