Six black women talk about their natural hair and the social stigmas that come with it- what their hair was like growing up, the Big Chop, people wanting to touch it, and challenges.
The graphic art series pink pressure frames the outer control that either restricts or exploits the female body and its social role, its sexuality and its nature.
Jim St. Germain's story embodies perseverance. He was born into poverty in Haiti and moved to Brooklyn at a young age. He quickly found himself surrounded with violence and drugs. He had multiple run-ins with the law and even almost died from a stabbing. Jim went on to pull himself out of this situation and receive two college degrees and a position helping in the Obama Administration. He also went on to start his own non-profit that helps at risk youth. Jim is an entrepreneur, founder, activist, and a father. His story is a an incredible one, but he continues to carry out the work he does so that one day, his story doesn't have to be anyone else's reality.
