June 2012 - the first rehearsals of "Nordic Roots" -production!
"NordicRoots" (for 7 dancers) explores the history, nature and mentality of the North.
The piece will be premiered in Turku FINLAND in autumn 2014 (postponed from 2013!).
Documentary of SOJIKU-project exploring Japanese phenomena, aesthetics and mentality through contemporary dance (2008-2012).
Airaksinen first worked on Japanese themes and created two stage works (2009+2010) and then invited a Japanese chorepgrapher and performance media-artist Yuzo Ishiyama to create a performance together for the "Turku 2011 European Capital of Culture" -program. Airaksinen continues the series with a video work coming up in 2012.
Niina Airaksinen Dance Productions produces international freelance contemporary dance productions in Turku Finland.
Airaksinen explores new worlds through dance by time-travelling in history and diving into different cultures - and transforming their phenomena into movement on stage, photography and video.
