  3. This seven minute 'music video' is entitled 'Good to See You' and my film is inspired by Greek composer Vangelis, who's wonderful soundtrack album, 'The City' was released in 1990. Vangelis was regularly commissioned to compose work for film and television during the '80s and '90s so his 'electronica' themes are well known across the world. 'Blade Runner', 'Mutiny on the Bounty', 'Chariots of Fire' and '1492, Conquest of Paradise' are just a few of the movies which benefited from his considerable talent at the synthesizer.

I first heard 'The City' in 1991 when visiting Hong Kong on business. Listening on a portable CD player, I was at the time watching the Chinese Junks crossing the harbor at sunset so last October, when I had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan and Japan on holiday, I decided to take my camera and a small selection of my Zeiss primes with me. The images are really little more than a collection of 'holiday snaps' shot without the benefit of a tripod so I spent a little while viewing the 'rushes' before transcoding and editing on Lightworks with the new X-keys USB 86 key Jog/Shuttle controller.

The music track entitled: 'Good To See You' was my inspiration and this video is the result. I've always considered good pictures married to good music can result in a sum greater than the parts so watch it in 720P HD and please listen with a quality sound system or headphones as the audio track probably contributes 75% to the value of this work.

  4. This was done in the very little free time I had (in fact it took most of my free time!) and was 2 months of work to get it done! Any contributions to the TIPJAR here are very gratefully acceptted as they make future reviews possible due to their non sponsored or funded nature. Thank you!

The very long (sorry) video review of the new Sony mirrorless full frame still/ video cameras, the A7 and A7R, plus the lens with the long constant aperture built in zoom, the RX10.

So this two months of work condensed into a rather hefty 39 minutes. It's all self explanatory what the title means once you watch the first couple of minutes. Hopefully it's not too confusing and does make sense!

On camera shots of me shot on the Canon C100 and C300. Product shots on the 1DC. The rest is of course the Sony cameras.

Lit with Gekko lights. Voice over done on the RODE Classic II valve microphone.

Sony's new NEX-VG10/20/30 camcorder will revolutionize independent filmmaking, offering an incredibly low price point for its feature set. We've wanted a shalllow depth-of-field, interchangeable lens and larger sensor for low-budget filmmaking. And we've waited too long for RED to get its Scarlet to market (after incessant delays and price increases), so this will have to do. At this Channel associated with the User Group, we can share video samples from this exciting new camcorder.

Because the functionality and information is limited at Vimeo Channels like this, there's much more to see and do at the associated User Group, vimeo.com/groups/nexvg10 and videos added to the Channel should (and hopefully will) also always be added there.

For ease in keeping up with posted videos here, you can also follow updates offsite via the more ubiquitous social networking services of:

Facebook - facebook.com/nexvg10
Twitter - twitter.com/nexvg10

I am an amateur film maker who owns an NEX-VG20EH, but I feel that I don't know my camera well enough. Can you think of any resources that may be of use to me to get my NEX-VG20EH black belt?
