North Atlantic Oscillation's "Wires", taken from their new release 'Lightning Strikes the Library', has been put to a powerful music video with touches of Orwell's dystopian 1984, directed and created by frontman Sam Healy.

"Wires" was originally taken from the North Atlantics album 'The Third Day', and featured a remixed version from Kscope label mate Steven Wilson.
'Lightning Strikes the Library', an exhibition of curated titles from the rock-electronica trio North Atlantic Oscillation features the band’s most highly praised offerings to both the prog and electronica worlds. Known for their unique combination of sonic complexity and melodic intrigue, North Atlantic Oscillation have released three albums of delicately intelligent music, and Sam Healy has recorded a warmer, intimate take on the band’s sound as part of his solo project SAND.
Championed time and again by industry gatekeepers, such as Zane Lowe, Guy Garvey, Marc Riley, BBC 6Music, BBC Scotland, BBC Introducing Prog Magazine, Drowned In Sound, NME and many more, North Atlantic Oscillation have gained a dedicated fan base ever since their debut in 2010. Grappling Hooks was named Zane Lowe’s album of the week on his BBC Radio 1 show, and tracks “Cell Count” and “Drawing Maps From Memory” received particular interest from BBC radio, including a live performance of “Hollywood Has Ended” on 6Music.
The band had successful UK tours as headliners and also as support for Porcupine Tree, Anathema, Engineers, Blackfield and Bob Mould. Their second album, Fog Electric, features twice on Lightning Strikes the Library with the 2012 burners “Soft Coda” and “Expert With Altimeter”, and among the four tracks from their 2014 album The Third Day “Glare” has previously only ever been available digitally.

'4½' comprises 6 tracks with a total running time of 37 minutes. 4 of the songs originated during the sessions for 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.', and one from the recording sessions for the previous album 'The Raven that Refused to Sing'. The final track is a version of 'Don’t Hate Me', a song originally recorded by Porcupine Tree in 1998, and is based on a live recording made on the recent tour of Europe with additional recording later done in the studio. The vocals on this new version are sung as a duet between Steven and Ninet Tayeb.
Also appearing on the album are members of Steven’s band over the last few years; Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster, Craig Blundell, Marco Minnemann, Chad Wackerman, and Theo Travis.
4½ is released by Kscope on CD, 180 gram vinyl, and Blu-Ray, with all formats housed in a beautiful die-cut sleeve photographed by Lasse Hoile and designed by Carl Glover. "In preparation for the album artwork, we both became fascinated with the Codex Seraphinianus, an illustrated encyclopaedia of an imaginary world created by Italian architect Luigi Serafini. We took inspiration both from specific illustrations in the book and from its general aesthetic of non-narrative nonsense in the shape of sense. The video is a sort of homage to Serafini's astounding work in which we imagine what his creatures, plants and gizmos might do if they could leap off the page."
