Why I care about Northfield: In my late teens and twenties, I struggled with eating disorder and not knowing who God made me to be. I was a young woman who needed Northfield Ministries. My husband was adopted at birth; his birth mother was an unmarried teenager. Since our reasons for being involved with Northfield are so personal, it is easy to be passionate about this ministry.

Life with eating disorder or self-harm is not how it has to be. We know many women who have battled these issues but with God’s help are now free. We believe God is able to provide full healing and deliverance from self-destructive thinking and behaviors. We believe that God is more powerful than any struggle we face and that He is there to help young women live life in victory, for His glory.

When young women realize how much God loves them and find their identity in Him, they can then live life with the confidence that comes from knowing Christ’s power is at work in them.

Northfield Ministries' Cumberland Home is within a 3 hour drive of more than 90% of Virginia residents, including metro Washington DC. Fourty-five days at the Northfield Cumberland Home is less expensive than the average 3 – 7 day hospitalization from complications related to anorexia and bulimia.
