What is “brainwashing”? What is to report the “truth”? Are “facts” alone the truth? This course explores the theoretical and practical links between democracy and the journalistic media, citing contemporary applicable cases at home and abroad.

INSTRUCTOR: Born and brought up in Hong Kong, Claudia Mo (毛孟靜) has been working as a journalist almost her entire adult life. She has worked fulltime and freelance for various media labels -- print and electronic, local and foreign. Her longest niche was at Agence France-Presse, where she was its HK chief correspondent in the late 1980’s. She has also hosted local TV programmes including City Forum and Media Watch.
